General Dysfunctions introduces readers to Bernice, Tracey, Diana, and Veronica who are dealing with dysfunctional relationships with themselves and others. Anica Walston does an excellent job of writing about characters the readers can relate to. From the struggles of a single parent doing the best she can to take care of her kids while dealing with inner turmoil, a woman who has had her share of heartbreak and not willing to open herself to the possibilities of true love, a woman who wants to hold on to a relationship that proves to be more harmful than helpful, and finally a story of finding oneself.
As a poetry lover, I love the fact the author gave the readers a poem before introducing each character. My favorite poems were Releasing a Good Man, Decadence and Divinity, and Focused.
I definitely look forward to reading Volume 2.
