REVIEW

Allergies

Normally, I don’t read/ review children’s books, but the author was kind enough to send it with her adult novels. In reading the reason for writing this particular book, I was intrigued to read it. The story is written for and about a boy named Gavin. Gavin has severe allergies that if he eats the wrong foods, it could be life threatening. His mother has to carry an Epi-Pen at all times…just in case. Parties, holidays and going to restaurants makes it hard for this young boy to have the food that many of us eat. The purpose of his story is to share that there are many children out there that have different types of allergies. Also, to help others know that it’s ok to be different.

Ms. Gonsalves does a great job with this story. She even included a recipe for pizza that does not have cheese and the countless other ingredients Gavin cannot have.
