Six-time Grammy award-winning artist, Toni Braxton writes about her personal and professional choices and how they have affected not only her career, but her health and family. Does Toni tell us about all of her romantic relationships? Does Toni tell us how she really feels about her family and more importantly does she blame them for her financial woes? Is the Braxton family as tight as they portray on the Braxton Family Values?
Toni is brutally honest in her memoir. It was elegantly written and was an easy read. I respect her so much more because of her challenges. I could never understand how and why artists could get themselves into such financial trouble, but Toni has proven she is no different from the average Jane when it comes to financial issues. While I still question some of her actions and thoughts, I commend her for being honest and sharing with the world how she thinks and feels. I found myself saying “Did she really just say that?”
Her voice is like no other artist, but can you hear her story and feel her pain through her music? After reading her memoir, you definitely will understand her music better than you did before. Toni lets us know that with or without money, you can still overcome challenges.
