Patience, Grasshopper is the story of an impatient little grasshopper who simply cannot wait until his birthday party. He tries to find ways to keep himself busy but try as he might, he simply cannot help asking Papa Grasshopper over and over again, “Is my birthday today? Is it today?” To which Papa Grasshopper consistently answers, “Patience, Grasshopper.”
Grasshopper can’t contain his excitement for his upcoming birthday. As the countdown to his birthday begins – he starts asking his grandfather every day, Is it my birthday yet? Papa Grasshopper realizes that it’s time to teach Grasshopper about the importance of patience. Will Grasshopper finally learn that good things come to those who wait?
The first thing that caught my attention was the illustration on the cover. Illustrator Susan G. Young did an excellent job of capturing the look of the inquisitive character name Grasshopper.
Author Janelle Toussant has a hit on her hands with Patience, Grasshopper. This book serves as an excellent tool to get kids to learn the importance of having patience in their lives.
Patience, Grasshopper, is a fast and entertaining read for kids of all ages. We all can learn the valuable lesson of patience from time to time. I can’t wait to read more of Grasshopper’s adventures. I highly recommend this book.
