Not all wishes should come true.
Master storyteller Mary Monroe begins her Lonely Heart, Deadly Heart series with a page-turning tale of seduction and shocking surprises, as two unhappy women fulfill their every erotic dream—and find a desire that kills…
As teenagers, best friends Lola Poole and Joan Procter concocted a scheme to escape their boredom, pass the time between boyfriends—and bring in some money. It all started when they got in the habit of corresponding with lonely, unsuspecting—and generous—older men. In return for their “love letters,” the teens were rewarded with checks. The fun only ended when their swindle nearly got them killed. Now they’re grown, but they’re still longing for every woman’s dream of love and excitement…
Joan is unhappily married, while Lola is done with putting her life on hold for her selfish relatives’ demands. As girls they were looking for money, but as women they have other needs they want satisfied. And thanks to online dating and a parade of lovers, they’re getting all the sexy fun they missed out on. It’s a downright addictive game. But games can’t last forever—and someone has to lose…
As teenagers, Lola & Joan thought it was fun to swindle people out of their time & money. Aside from school, they spent their free time corresponding with people from the lonely hearts ad in the back of magazines. You can be whomever you want to be when you are hiding behind a pen & paper. (This was before the Internet/Social Media) In Lola & Joan’s mind, there was nothing wrong with telling lies to get what they want. Even though both of them knew what they were doing was wrong they decided to concentrate on the “positive.” Lies aside, they were giving attention to people who desired companionship.
It’s all fun and games until someone wants to meet face to face or in Lola & Joan’s case – when someone’s wife shows up at their front door.
Shook to the core after that incident; they decide to “retire” from the lonely hearts game. But as we know some habits are hard to break.
Flash forward to present; Lola is still a “prisoner” to the promise she made to her dying dad. She promised she would be there for her step-mother, Bertha. She is eager to start a life of own and find happiness. Joan is unhappily married, but that doesn’t stop her from looking outside of her married for temporary joy.
Yep… You guess it. They are back with their games but this time, it’s on another level. This time is could end up being deadly. Is it too late for them to learn their lesson once and for all?
Every Woman’s Dream is filled with unforgettable characters that load the pages with the scandalous games they play. Even though I felt the book could have been shorter – the characters shenanigans kept me flipping the pages. I did enjoy how Author Mary Monroe built up the suspense at the end because it has me sitting with bated breath for Part 2 in this series.
Lola & Joan… I wanted to slap/choke the mess out of these characters. The way Joan talked to her husband will have your head spinning. Even though I did giggle a few times – I did feel bad for him. Hopefully, Lola & Joan will finally grow the hell up – if they make it out alive in this book.
P.S. Someone dies…
I can’t wait to read this one.
