I was first introduced to Luvvie’s blog after watching an episode of Scandal. My friend asked if I read Luvvie’s recap of the show and if I hadn’t, I needed to read it ASAP. After reading one of her posts – I was hooked. Then I came across a picture of Luvvie Ajayi, and the only thing I could say is… That’s my cousin, Gorpu!!
After further investigation aka scanning their FB pages, I realized Luvvie wasn’t my cousin. That only drove home the point that I needed to do a better job of keeping in contact with my relatives. I was two minutes away from claiming a celebrity as a family member. (Side Note: People love claiming folks once their names are in the public eye.
Let me begin my review by saying – I jumped at the opportunity to read/review an ARC (Advanced Reader’s copy) of I’m Judging You before it hit shelves on September 13th.
I’m Judging You is Luvvie doing what she does best and that’s giving her unfiltered take on World issues. From Life, Culture, Social Media, & Fame – she covers it all. I’m Judging You doesn’t shy away from topics such as race relations, rape culture, feminism, and homophobia. Luvvie is that voice in your head that says things you wish could say in public. She’s that best friend in your head that gives you the hard truth wrapped in “Love”. She also challenges you to get out of your comfort zone and use your brain muscles to view the world without the rose-colored glasses.
How would I sum up I’m Judging You? – It’s the Handbook on How To Get Your Life & Work on Making It Better.
I pre-ordered the audiobook on my Audible account. I know you are thinking – Why purchase the Audiobook if you have an ARC copy? I will give you two reasons: 1) I believe in this project 2) Luvvie is narrating her book.
