Kim Knight is the owner and manager of Between the Lines Bookstore, LLC. The store opened the first physical location June 22, 2014 in the historic McKinley Alumni Center. She relocated in December 2014 to 4242 Government Street Suite 113. Her store is a member of the American Bookseller Association and Southern Independent Bookseller Association. The store is a New York Times Reporting Store. The mission is to provide a unique literary experience for African-American readers while providing connections to authors, book clubs, the community and the world.
She is currently a Captain in the United States Army Reserve with 24 years of service. She has two combat deployments-Iraq (2006-2007) and Afghanistan (2012). Her wartime memories are a part of the Veterans History Project located at the Library of Congress American Folklife Center.
Kim is the Business Ministry leader of the Greater King David Business and Networking Incubator Ministry. She is actively involved in several ministries such as Voter Registration and Sisterhood. She is a proud member of the South Baton Rouge Kiwanis Club. She serves as an Elections Commissioner during elections.
Kim holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Jackson State University and a Masters of Business Administration degree from Columbia Southern University. She has several business certifications such as HUDZone, Small and Emerging Business and Veteran Owned Small Business.
She has a gifted and talented daughter, Lauryn, who is an honor roll student at McKinley High School.
