Ashley Sandstone is a loving wife, mother, and business woman. Her husband, Kenny, is an attorney. Their life together is picture perfect - or so it appears. Ashley has a problem...she's being stalked and sexually harassed by Kenny's boss, Lexington Blackshear.
Lexington is wealthy, devious, and obsessed with Ashley. He uses his influence to find out enough dirt on the Sandstone's, and proceeds to terrorize Ashley. Light pressure turns into a storm that threatens to break up a family.
With her life and everything she loves hanging in the balance, Ashley tries to beat Lexington at his own game. But dancing with the devil is risky and this deadly dance will surely leave one of their lives in shambles.
When The Rabbit’s Got The Gun is one of the first books by Brian W. Smith that I didn’t glance at the synopsis before reading it. So I had no expectations of what I thought would happen or not happen.
Kenny Sandstone is a successful Civil Right’s attorney that works for the prestigious law firm of Blackshear & Tupelo. His wife, Ashley Sandstone runs a non-profit organization that is operating in the red and is in jeopardy of closing its doors. Lexington Blackshear is Kenny’s boss and owner of Blackshear & Tupelo. Lexington Blackshear is an insidious businessman who is used to getting what he wants by any means necessary.
Lexington has his eyes on Ashley Sandstone – and decides to make her an offer she can’t refuse. Even though Ashley has her reservations about Lexington – she decides to accept a dance with the devil also known as Lexington Blackshear. And as history has proved time and time before – when you dance with the devil you will get burnt.
The author quickly draws readers in with his vivid descriptions, engaging characters, and edgy suspense. Author Brian W. Smith is known for setting up the perfect scene – making you comfortable – then pulling the rug right under your feet. He definitely accomplishes that with this read. The ending had me rethinking everything I thought I knew.
I haven’t read a Brian W. Smith novel in a minute and this book reminds me why he is one of my all-time favorite authors.
