moreIn a raw and inspiring reflection on grief, a mourning sister processes her personal story of loss by exploring the history of bereavement customs.
When Amanda Held Opelt suffered a season of loss—including three miscarriages and the death of her grandmother and culminating in the unexpected death...
A Hole in the World by Amanda Held Opelt is a book I wish I read in 2020 – when I lost my Dad. The things people would say to me about my grieving process left me stunned. I had someone tell me that I needed to schedule my grief as if I could grieve on command. I had others tell me that I needed to move on with my grief in a timely fashion. Still not sure what that meant. I have learned through my grieving these past two years that grieving is a process with no set time limit. I also learned that many people are unfamiliar with death etiquette.
Author Amanda Held Opelt’s words made me feel less alone because I knew she related to what I had been feeling. Through her research and exploration of the subject of grief – I learned so much. I was expecting another ABC Manual to Grief, but I was blessed with so much more with this book.
I highly recommend this book to everyone to read. No matter where you are in your grieving process – there is something in this book that will help you.
