Simone Jarrett, a journalist, has been keeping a secret for years. However, with the recent resurgence of the Card Killer’s killing spree, she worries about how much longer she can keep it to herself. To make matters worse, Simone is casually dating Lance Webb, the sheriff of Carling Lake, but she hasn’t told him about her secret, which is connected to his investigation of the Card Killer. Unfortunately, Simone doesn’t know that the Card Killer has their eyes on her. Will they catch the Card Killer before he attacks more people, including Simone? Could Simone’s secret push Lance away?

Upon finishing this book, I couldn’t help but wonder why I hadn’t discovered Author K.D. Richards sooner. Although it is the sixth book in the series, it can be read as a standalone. K.D. Richards did a fantastic job of crafting an engaging mystery novel. There’s nothing quite like diving into a suspenseful book and joining the characters on their mystery-solving journey. It’s a thrilling experience that keeps me on the edge of my seat!

Let me add, Simone and Lance’s intense and passionate connection made for a satisfying read. Catching the Carling Lake Killer is a fast-paced and enjoyable read. Highly Recommended!
