Comfortable in Misery

I truly believe some people thrive on focusing on negativity.

Ask my husband—when he vents, I try to offer a positive perspective and remind him it’s okay not to have all the answers, because God always makes a way. And there are days when he does the same for me. It’s important that our home remains a place of peace,

Then there’s the reality of work life and dealing with the public once you step outside your home, which adds another layer of challenge.

People often call me silly (and I’m good with that), but I’d much rather find something to smile about than dwell on negativity.

I make it a point to try and turn negative conversations into positive ones whenever I can. Yes, life hands us something to complain about every day, but just waking up and having the gift of breath is a blessing in itself.

I understand we all have moments when we need to vent—it’s normal—but we can’t allow ourselves to stay stuck in that mindset.

There are times when all it takes is walking away to lighten the load, but I think sometimes we get too used to sitting in our own misery.
